On the Way — All because of religion - 29 April 2026 - From Religion, Conflict to Transfiguration

At our most recent On the Way gathering on 29 April, we had the privilege of welcoming Canon Dr Clare Amos, whose profound exploration of “All because of religion!” — Religion, violence, and the need for transfiguration — invited us into a deep and searching reflection on the role of faith in both conflict and transformation.

Drawing on her extensive experience in the Middle East, the World Council of Churches, and the Anglican Communion, Clare helped us grapple with uncomfortable but necessary questions: how religion can be misused to justify violence, and yet also hold within it a powerful call to transfiguration, reconciliation, and peace. The evening was well attended, and we received excellent feedback — a sign of how relevant and resonant the theme proved to be for our community.

It was also a reminder of the value of gathering together not only to listen, but to engage honestly across differences, and to let difficult topics open space for deeper understanding.

🙏 A heartfelt thank you to Canon Dr Clare Amos for her wisdom and generosity, to our excellent chef Sandeep to whom we are most grateful, and to all who attended and contributed to the success of the evening.
